Everyone Has That Special Cause That Is Close To The Heart

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

If there is one thing that is close to my heart it is children. It especially affects me when I see news of abuse or simply that a child is abandoned. Thank heaven there are places where these children can seek refuge one of which we know personally and it is Hillcrest Children’s Home.

We also know that if we were in a room with 100 people and asked the question,” Who here has a special cause that is close to your heart?”, we would probably see 100 hands raised. It might be cancer, or the heart fund , or abused children, or abused animals or one of the many causes that are needing help.

There are many good causes that tackle adversity and just like us they feel the effects of the economy as much or maybe more than we do on a personal level.

We truly believe that everyone, like us, would love to be able to support their cause more and make a difference for them. Unfortunately a lot of us are in a position that we are doing as much as we can and there isn’t any room for doing more.

If there were a way to change that I know most of us would. Well, there is a way to make a difference for that special cause you hold close to your heart and there are free webinars being held to offer suggestions for us to make a difference for that special cause.

If you would like to attend one of the webinars to hear how relatively simple it is for all of us to have the power to change the situation and offer the support that our special cause needs and deserves just go to http://bit.ly/SpecialCauses These fine organizations are having difficult times in this economy and need all the assistance we can give them.

Kids …

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Whenever your kids are out of control, you can take
comfort from the thought that even God’s omnipotence
did not extend to God’s kids.

After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and
Eve. And the first thing He said to them was: “Don’t.”

“Don’t what?” Adam asked.

“Don’t eat the Forbidden Fruit,” God replied.

“Forbidden Fruit? We got a Forbidden Fruit? Hey, Eve…
we got a Forbidden Fruit!”

“No way! Where?”

“Don’t eat that fruit!” said God.

“Why?”

“Because I am your Creator and I said so!” said God,
wondering why he hadn’t stopped after making the elephants.

A few minutes later God saw the kids having an apple break
and was angry.

“Didn’t I tell you not to eat that fruit?” the ‘First Parent’ asked.

“Uh huh,” Adam replied.

“Then why did you?”

“I dunno,” Eve answered.

“She started it!” Adam said.

“Did not!”

“DID so!”

“DID NOT!”

Having had it with the two of them, God’s punishment was
that Adam and Eve should have children of their own…
thus the pattern was set, and it has never changed.

Potatoes …

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

“Now, then, Christine,” said the math teacher, “I want to give
you a little problem. Suppose there were five children and
their mother had only four potatoes to share among them.
She wanted to give each child an equal share. How would
she do it?”

“Mash the potatoes,” the girl replied.

I Just Got Fed Up

Friday, September 11th, 2009

In all of my working years I probably asked the same questions a lot of other people ask. Isn’t there a better way to support my family yet still have some extra time to invest in them? Why couldn’t I have been born rich and not so good looking? All the time knowing in the back of my mind that there really had to be a better way. I retired from FedEx in February but it wasn’t exactly time to do so age wise. I owned my route with them so the responsibilities were a little greater than just punching the clock, making my deliveries and punching the clock to go home. For the last 18 and a half years, pardon the cliche, I found myself literally married to that truck The previous 18 and a half years I was in the same business, just in other capacities from bread and cake deliveries to courier for small packages. After 37 years in the delivery business and jumping on and off trucks I took a look back and realized that I had really missed a lot during the years my children were growing up. As it is in the case of other families it was mom who went to the choir concerts in the middle of the day. It was mom who saw the track meets and the band concerts. I’m really not looking for sympathy here because we do have a close knit family but I also realize that maybe things could have been a little different. I saw the same pattern happening with the 5 beautiful grandchildren we now have and decided I was not going to let that happen again. I just got fed up to the point that I sold the route and began a search for a program on the internet to be a work from home grandpa. I wanted something that I could generate a good income yet have the time to devote to the special activities my grandchildren are involved in. I found a program that can do just that and I now run my own homebased internet business that has great potential but even better than that I have been able to attend several of those special occassions already. I was able to see my little granddaughter graduate from preschool which happened to be a morning affair. I was able to spend one morning at my grandson’s field day and watch him compete in all of the events. I have been to every one of their band concerts  http://bit.ly/a8uKzb. Life is good
